Anthem to the Ancient
Once proud and feeling save
like a sea of ice, frozen by the sun
our longing for some vague impression of eternity
promised us the liberty of our entity.
They gave us reason in exchange of true belief,
a moral code instead of pantheistic harmony.
Once naive but free we now are bound by false ideals
which sadly led us to humanity's humiliation.
In despair and apathy I solemnly raise
this anthem to the ancient:
Will their ever be a glance of glory,
a pure and soft divinity in actual misery?
As I perceive my oath
diminished merely in imagination
for we killed ourselves and our fathers,
a foul smell is all that shall remain.
